Who owns what you buy?
Most brands never mention their parent company. Search one below and trace it up the ownership chain to whoever ultimately controls it.

How this works
Ownership is traced by multiplying stakes along every path from a company up to its owners. Where one owner holds a majority, that answer is a single name — ESPN is owned by Disney. Where no owner does, as with most listed companies, there is no single answer, so the largest holders are listed together with how much of the company they actually account for.
Index funds like Vanguard and BlackRock hold stakes in nearly every listed company. They are shown separately from strategic owners, because otherwise they would be the answer to every question.
